Business problem
The scenario models a wholesale business using separate operational extracts for orders, inventory, products, customers and supplier activity. Leaders need a consistent view of sales, margin, stock position and customer performance without manually combining files.
Source systems and ingestion
The representative design accepts ERP extracts, inventory movements, supplier files and controlled Excel inputs. Ingestion validates expected columns, types and load dates before data is promoted.
Architecture
Data quality and semantic model
The design includes checks for missing keys, duplicate records, invalid dates and reference-data mismatches. A star-schema semantic model provides common definitions for sales, margin, stock, product, customer and time analysis.

The platform is designed to make lineage and validation visible before reporting is trusted. The key lesson is that dashboard design follows business definitions and a robust data model—it cannot compensate for uncontrolled source data.
